Forbidden Fruit

When the moon is high,

and the air is hot,

I crave it.

Juicy,

sweet,

wet.

Scraping the mango skin with my teeth after I've gnawed its flesh

giggling when the grapefruit sprays me with sunshine

popping berries in my mouth,

and going back for more

pulling apart a dragon fruit carefully, so as not to mar the beauty of the skin

not having a care on earth that pineapple juices are running down my neck...

(if you caught sight of me,

doing any of these things

it would make you blush.)

Can you ever get enough of gorgeous fruit?

I can't.

I just want it.

All the time.

I'll share one of my favorite secrets with you, Luscious Ones,

the easiest, most succulent, thirst-quenching summer nibble ever.

A salad ripe with gorgeous-ness inducing antioxidants, hydrating as all hell...

Wet and Wild Watermelon Salad

  • 1/2 organic watermelon
  • 1 pt. organic blueberries
  • 1 pt. organic grape tomatoes, halved
  • 1 C. Moroccan oil cured black olives, chopped
  • 2 sprigs fresh organic mint
  • 1/4 organic parsley, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. organic Madagascar or Bourbon vanilla
  • 2 oz. vegan smoked cashew gouda (I like Treeline nut cheeses, though more and more local varieties can be found in your health food stores.)
  • Celtic salt

Chop watermelon into small bites, then toss into a large pretty bowl. Add halved tomatoes, then blueberries. Drizzle the vinegar and vanilla over the fruit. Add in the vegan gouda. Give it a lively toss. Now add in the herbs, olives, and a pinch or two of Celt salt, toss again. Devour!

The vegan cheese is optional, but exquisitely delish. It soaks up the dressing so beautifully, and rounds out the dish to make it more filling. Plus...the smoky flavor...oh, my...yesss...!

Loves, if you can't find things in your local stores, and internet shipping is prohibitive, then bug store managers to carry products! I do it all the time. (Nicely, of course). And then, you turn your friends and family onto them, which makes it totally worthwhile for stores to carry, and everyone is happy. And eating amazing things.

I make this all the time in the summer. Even my fella can't get enough, and he's a (mostly) recovering junk food monster.

Because no one can resist the seductive power of fruit.

Don't even try.

Just succumb,

get sticky,

be juicy with me...
